Underbody CladdingIn the place of classical underbody protection, Volkswagen has recently been making increasing use of a plastic cladding. This effectively protects the underbody against damage due to stone chippings, it is lighter, can be recycled and is thus more environmentally compatible. In addition, the underbody cladding also benefits the flow characteristics of the body and thus improves the drag, which in turn gives rise to a lower fuel consumption. |
